The growing demand for minerals including coal in industries and development lead to the need for extraction in depths which therefore complicates the extraction mechanism. Dynamic activities also results in rock burst and rock throwing from excavation periphery. These phenomena are important factors which threaten the safety and cause damage to the support system and equipment. Various monitoring and warning have been developed, which seismic methods are preferred because of dynamic nature of the activities. Microseismic and acoustic emission methods are advantageous with unique application due to the nature of dynamics activity, the possibility to study the failure process, its mechanisms and location of the source. This research attempts to describe microseismic and acoustic emission methods and investigate their applicability. Key role playing parameters in these methods are reviewed to improve the logging data. The analytical methods and interpretation of the logged data are presented. Other applications of this method in the dynamic activities in a coal mine monitoring are discussed. The results reveal micro seismic and acoustic emission methods are preferred to the others as fast, accurate, three dimensional, remote and simultaneous logging approaches.
