A hydrocyclone unit in a mineral processing circuit can be selected based on different procedures. Because of the coal nature, selecting a hydrocyclone in the coal washing circuit is a complicated process. The third correction factor (particle density) plays an important role in this area. In the present research, the underflow of Zarand Coal washing thickeners as hydrocyclone feed was monitored. Then the third correction factor of hydrocyclone was modified. Finally, the hydrocyclone diameter was calculated as 37 cm.
