Abstract

By mining more and more and widening the operational area of the mines, the extent of lands that are affected by mining activities will increase, especially the waste dump areas. Thus, the need for performing mine reclamation will increase every day. Plant type Selection and planting to protect the environment and the reclamation of the mine are some of the most important solutions. For this case study in the Sarcheshmeh Copper Mine, which is one­ of the 10 biggest copper mines of world, plant types were selected based on reclamation plan’s primary criteria that are: 1- Kind of post mining land use, 2- Climate, 3- Nature­ of soil. Then, comparison matrixes based on questionnaires that were completed by experts were obtained and plant types were prioritized by Fuzzy – Top sis method based on secondary criteria that are: 1- Perspective of the region, 2- resistance against disease and insects,­ 3- strength and method of growth, 4- availability to plant type, 5- economic efficiency, 6- Protection of soil and storing water, 7- prevention from pollution. Respectively suitable plant types in the mining perimeter and tailing dams were prioritized as follows: The obtained priority by this method was Amygdalus scoparia [wild almond], Tamarix, Pistachio [Pistachio Wild], Ephedra, Astragalus, Salsola respectively.
