Abstract

As a part of a research on optimization of  heap bioleaching of Dareh Zar copper mine, Iran,   chemical leaching of low grade ore obtaining from secondary enrichment zone of Dare Zar copper mine was investigated. Copper grade was 0.37 %  and the main mineral of copper is chalcopyrite which is altered to digenite and chalcocite. Effects of temperature, initial Fe concentration, Eh, pH and stirring speed were studied. Results showed that reaction take places at 2 different stages. The kinetic of first stage is fast and an activation energy of 16.5 kJ/mol was acquired. The kinetic of second stage is slow and its activation energy is about 150 kJ/mol. There is no need to add initial Fe because Fe released from pyrite is enough for leaching of digenite and chalcopyrite
