Abstract

Determination of rock mass deformation modulus is an important task in rock mechanics and rock engineering. There are direct and indirect procedures for estimating the deformation modulus. The determination of this parameter by direct (in situ) tests) requires considerable costs and involves difficult operational processes. For this reason, empirical equations for the indirect estimation of the modulus of deformation are an interesting issue for rock engineers and engineering geologists. Seismic travel time tomography uses seismic waves to for detection of structures the inside of the ground. This method has been widely applied to practical applications in many fields including rock engineering. Based on VP values obtained from seismic Tomography Tests and deformation modulus obtained from plate jacking tests that are performed in Rodbar Lorestan and Bakhteyari dams sites a relationship was suggested. This relationship are is compared with other exiting empirical relations. that lLowest error (of RMSE=4.133) and highest coefficient of correlations of (R=0.66) are obtained for suggested equation are obtained.
